Dogzymes Electrolyte Powder
I have two unlikely siblings--Grimm is 140lb Turkish Boz Shepherd 33in at the shoulder--and Tinkerbell a 44lb staffy-minpin mix who is 14in at the shoulder but all muscle like a tank. They love to run around the yard and Tinkerbell--bless her heart--isn't the sharpest and will run herself to absolute exhaustion and borderline heatstroke if I don't monitor her. Grimm likes being lazy and knows when to stop. When they are outside in the mornings(and it hasn't been below 85 at 7am for a while now) a scoop of this goes into their 2liter water bowl. I swear it has helped them not get overheated all summer. I have heard horror stories from my neighbors around me about their dogs getting too hot but I give this stuff credit for mine being able to hydrate safely. Grimm is a service dog in training and he travels everywhere with me and when we go on long car trips a scoop of this is mixed with his travel water--because even with AC it can get warm in a car. I have a small tupperware container that it goes into when we have out of town and overnight work.
If I'm ever worried that they didn't get enough water, at the end of the day, after dinner, I will take either a powdered broth mix or a spoon of wet dog food and blend that with a scoop of these electrolytes and 6oz of water for Tink and 12-16oz for Grimm depending on how thirsty he turns out to be. Works like a charm and they sleep well afterwards.
I highly recommend this for anyone who loves their dog and lives in the South and for anyone with a dog that travels with them.
Hi Lindsay, thank you so much for sharing your experience! We're thrilled to hear that Dogzymes Electrolyte Powder has become a helpful part of your dogs' hydration routine in the Texas heat. Your detailed tips will surely help other pet owners keeping their pups safe and comfortable. Thanks again for your kind support!
My Turkish Boz was given the option to be picky and he ran with it, so most other electrolytes he snubs but this one he will drink no problem, I can even add it to his food if he has an upset tummy.
This also works well for my Staffy-minPin mix when she over heats in the summer because she doesn't have an off switch.
